This is not just about a park; it's about the soul of Bengaluru. Lalbagh is our 3-billion-year-old anchor, the serene sanctuary where generations have sought peace. It is the only place in our booming, concrete city where we can truly breathe.

Lalbagh is non-negotiable. It is the single most vital natural defense we have against toxic pollution.

Yet, our heritage is being threatened by the most destructive of bargains: The Tunnel Road Project. This plan is an irreversible assault that demands six acres of irreplaceable land, risks shattering the foundations of the ancient Lalbagh Rock, and could dry up the aquifers feeding our historic lake.

We are being asked to sacrifice the health and history of our entire city for the sake of temporary traffic relief. This is a betrayal of the generations who cherished this garden and a devastating theft from the children who deserve to inherit clean air.

We must stand together and tell our leaders: Do not sign the death warrant for the Lungs of Bengaluru. Protecting Lalbagh is not an option; it is our urgent, collective duty.

ಆತ್ಮೀಯ ಗೆಳೆಯರೇ/ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರೇ,

ಪರಿಸರ, ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್ ಸಸ್ಯೋದ್ಯಾನವು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರದ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ. 1935ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದಿನ ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್ ಉದ್ಯಾನವು ಎರಡು ವೀರಗಲ್ಲು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದು, ಯೋಧರನ್ನು ಸ್ಮರಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಸ್ಮಾರಕಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.

ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸರ್ಕಾರದ 'ಅಜಾಗರೂಕ' ಸುರಂಗ ರಸ್ತೆ ಯೋಜನೆಯಿಂದ ನಗರದ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತ ಮತ್ತು ಜೀವಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆಯಾಗಿರುವ ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್ ಸಸ್ಯೋದ್ಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಕಷ್ಟ ಎದುರಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಲು ವಿಷಾದಿಸುತ್ತೆವೆ.

ಈ ದುರ್ಯೋಜನೆಗಾಗಿ ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್‌ನ ಸುಮಾರು ಆರು ಎಕ್ಕರೆ ಭೂಮಿ ಕಳೆದುಹೋಗುತ್ತದೆ. ನೂರಾರು ಮರಗಳನ್ನು ಕಡಿಯಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪರಿಸರ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಲಾಗದಂತೆ ಹಾನಿಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ತಜ್ಞರು, ನಾಗರಿಕ ಗುಂಪುಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರವಾದಿಗಳು ವಿರೋಧ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೂ, ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಇನ್ನೂ ಯಾಕೆ ಸಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿಲ್ಲ? ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅಸ್ಮಿತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಾಕೆ ಈ ನಿರ್ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ?

ಲಾಲ್‌ಬಾಗ್ ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ತುಂಡು ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲ. ಇದು ನಮ್ಮ ನಗರದ ಆತ್ಮ, ನಮ್ಮೆಲ್ಲರ - ನಮ್ಮ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಆಮ್ಲಜನಕ ಮತ್ತು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸಂಪತ್ತು. ರಾಜಕೀಯ ಶೋಭೆಗಾಗಿ ಹಾಗು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸ್ವಾರ್ಥಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ನಾಶ ಮಾಡುವ ಹಕ್ಕು ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಲಾಲ್ಬಾಗ್ ಕಾಪಾಡಲು ನಗರದ ಜನರೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಜಗದಾದ್ಯಂತ ಕನ್ನಡಿಗರು ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಸರವಾದಿಗಳು ಒಂದಾಗಿ ಸೇರುವ ಅಗತ್ಯವಿದೆ. ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ದರಾಮಯ್ಯನವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಕೂಡಲೇ ಸ್ಥಗಿತಗೊಳಿಸಲು ಒತ್ತಾಯಿಸಬೇಕಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ, ಈ ಪರಿವರ್ತನ ವಿನಂತಿಗೆ ಸಹಿ ಹಾಕುವ ಮೂಲಕ ನೀವು ಕೈಜೋಡಿಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ನಮ್ಮ ಕಳಕಳಿಯ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ.
