Barbara A. Sizemore Academy (BASA), of Betty Shabazz International Charter school, was told by CPS that if its 2015 School Quality Rating Score rose from the 2014 Level 3 it would not be recommended for closure. After achieving this goal, and being only .2 of a point from the next highest rating of 2+, BASA was informed by CPS that it was being recommended for closure; CPS was disregarding its written and verbal word. We are asking that you do not accept this recommendation.  In addition to meeting agreed upon terms, BASA has additional evidence of significant growth.  If you reject the recommendation, it will allow BASA to continue on its path of improvement, and bolster community trust in CPS to keep its word in supporting improving schools.
