Open Cheshire East pools. (Everybody Sport & Recreation) by mid August at the very latest

The Issue

  • Despite the government’s announcement that leisure centres can open from 25th July, including pools, Everybody Sport & Recreation is failing residents of Cheshire East by refusing to open pools until 1st September! This seriously affects a large number of people, both adults and young people who swim on a regular basis, including a number of Swimming Clubs within the area and means that young people cannot swim throughout the summer holidays! These people alone have been unable to train since mid-March, seriously affecting both fitness levels and mental health. Not all adults can use the gym - many need non-weight baring exercise! Swimmers thought “oh well, I can at least use Nantwich brine pool” - well not if you're under 18 as it’s for adults only! Swim England has been working tirelessly to ensure the guidance is ready for leisure centres so that pools CAN open.
    Please Everybody Sport & Recreation - reconsider and get the wheels in motion to open pools once the temperature and chlorine levels are right!
