ELECTRICITY TARIFFS, HOME VALUE, INCREASES, LOADSHEDDING, PENALTIES ON UNITS MUST FALL
The Issue
The citizens are severely affected by these issues. Whilst everything is on the increase, wages/salaries only increase once a year, below inflation.
Nersa approved a 15% increase, but the City's increase is above 17%. Home value has gone up, without physical checks being done merely to switch our current lifeline users automatically on to the domestic tariff, which gives the people in this bracket, more than a 100% increase, without consultation/considerations, forfeiting their free units.
Elderly people already on the indigent grant, having to re-apply whilst being charged at R3. 51 per unit during this process, without any refunds. Why are these people being switched on to the domestic tariff automatically, but cannot receive the indigent grant automatically, when reaching the age of 60?
The rand per unit is too high. R3, 51 per unit of which a R10 only gets you 2units. This cannot be allowed, it is unacceptable. Our people are unable to make use of their stoves and geysers, having to make use of gas, which has become another expense.
These increases from the City is an expense to the citizens, but the only income received is being increased below inflation once a year, so how are we to cope with all these expenses, but no decent wage/salary increase?
Increasing electricity whilst these citizens have to live with loadshedding, which creates services not delivered, but paid for???
Illegal connectivity not being dealt with, street light being on whole day, but the homes of these people must be in darkness?
How is this even allowed? Services are beyond pathetic, but we are forced to pay for these services.
The City is supposed to be working for the citizen, but instead, the only income we receive has to go to the city without questions being asked, and nobody to see to these complaints.
Citizens are not being considered, their expenses are not being considered, the amount of people within a home are not being considered, people with bond repayments are not being considered.
THE ONLY THING BEING CONSIDERED IS GENERATING AN INCOME FROM THE CITIZENS AT THEIR EXPENSE!!!!
