... a conversation with Chatham-Kent General Manager, Bruce McAllister.

We both agreed that zoning Forests as "cornfields" was an error left in Chatham-Kent planning from the 1998 Amalgamation and that loophole has never been closed by successive Councils.

Tell your Councillors that this is wrong and you won't accept it!

Bruce suggested that this Council "may" be more willing to protect biodiversity than previous ones but that is in no way guaranteed.

We must change that!

He also suggested that council members will want to wait until February of 2021 when an Ontario Aerial Survey report will show the scale of deforestation, before deciding.

If you or someone you know lives in one of the areas of Chatham-Kent where deforestation happens every winter, and you see that one of your local forests is being damaged this winter, contact:

saveourCKtrees@gmail.com

and report it immediately.

The actual aerial survey is finished so any forests that come down after that will not be included in a report to Chatham Kent Council.
