Here is the City Council vote on Rezoning Petition 2020-049: 7 yes, 4 against. We were not successful in getting them to stop this rezoning. Needless to say we are extremely disappointed in this outcome, but let's focus on the upside:

These council members voted 'no' for us: Watlington, Johnson, Winston, Newton. In addition, Watlington and Johnson spoke on our behalf. (if you emailed them earlier, you might think about sending a thank-you)

1) We got their attention. Council now is thinking about Far West Charlotte more than they possibly ever have before. We can continue to demand the type of development and growth we want for our community.

2) We are stronger together to solve problems! We have an entire new Community organization where we can work together to solve problems as they arise - we are here for each other!

3) We are stronger together to say how we want this community to grow! We will provide input to Council and to Developers BEFORE future rezonings happen, and now they have a specific group to ask!

4) We did get more with this rezoning than they originally put forth in terms of a future possible Park, and extra road improvements. If we had not fought, we would not have gotten any of that. I am so happy to have all of you as my neighbors.

You fought so hard on behalf of our Community! I am proud of what we did, and know it will make a difference in other ways, even if we did not get what we wanted tonight.

We will take a little time right now to be with our friends and families and concentrate on those that we love over the Holidays, and then we plan to start up with regular Far West Charlotte/Northwest Community Alliance Meetings first thing in the New Year to get ourselves even more organized and ready to help our Community grow in a way that will help us all.
