Hello Neighbors,

We have what I think is good news in the short term: the developers have deferred Rezoning Petition 2020-049. 

What this means is: 1) no hearing on Monday July 20th - if you signed up your name will remain on the agenda for future meetings 2) more time to organize ourselves and our neighbors. 3) possible new hearing date on September 21st - please mark your calendar. 

We do not know why the developers deferred, but I like to think that word spread of the neighborhood's strong opposition to Industrial zoning. Thank you! 

This will be a marathon, though, not a sprint. We will call on you again as we learn more and as the September meeting approaches. In the meantime, please encourage neighbors to sign this petition. If the developers continue to go through with the petition, then we will want as many signatures as possible!

Also in the meantime, a few of us have arranged a meeting with the Assistant City Manager and Director of Planning in Charlotte to see if there is something we can do overall to stop the onslaught of these petitions for Industrial in the middle of the residential parts of our section of Mecklenburg County. It is on August 6; we will report back what we learn.
