I would like to start this petition for changes to the speed limit and installation of traffic calming measures (any other recommendations welcome) to make it safer in Coatham Mundeville, Darlington. 

When exiting off Junction 59 from the A1 there are 2 lanes merging into 1 at the crest of the hill.  The speed limit from the A1 roundabout through Coatham Mundeville and into Beaumont Hill is 50mph. 

Drivers accelerate or speed on this stretch of road. When using the island (near to the forresters arms) to cross the A167 it can be dangerous as cars try to overtake on this stretch of the road as well as judging the acceleration speed. 

Over the years this has caught may people out.  Recently, a horse rider suffered injuries and her horse perished  

In addition, along this stretch of road in June 2022 a young female lost her life.

Something must change!! Surely saving any life is worth going that bit slower  

I am after support to have the speed limit reduced and traffic calming measures introduced on this section of road.  It’s got to change.  No more people or animals can be hurt
