Change workman compensation law
The Issue
I'm currently dealing with the struggles of being injured and the financial pressure it brings. Receiving only 2/3rds of my non-overtime pay while I'm unable to work is not just challenging; it’s overwhelming and stressful. It is costing my family everything and severely hindering my healing process. Every day, I face the mounting pressure from bills I can't pay and family members urging me to return to work prematurely, despite not being fully healed.
This experience is not unique to me; countless others find themselves in this difficult situation. The current workman compensation law needs to be revised to ensure that injured workers receive adequate financial support. Two-thirds of the regular pay during such a critical time is insufficient, making it near impossible to sustain a household, manage expenses, and focus on recovery.
According to the National Safety Council, over 4 million workplace injuries occur annually in the United States, and a significant portion of these result in time away from work. Yet, our current compensation system does not adequately address the needs of workers during these periods of injury and recovery.
We propose changes to the workman compensation law to ensure workers receive full or closer to full pay. This change would alleviate undue stress during recovery, help families meet basic financial needs, and allow for a genuine opportunity to heal without rushing back to work under pressure.
With your support, we can advocate for necessary legislative reforms. We urge lawmakers and policymakers to review and amend the existing workman compensation statutes to more fairly protect injured workers and their families. It’s time to prioritize the well-being of those who need it most and ensure a fair and just system for every hard-working individual.
Please sign this petition to call for this critical change and stand alongside injured workers who deserve better support!
