Change Washington State's animal to the Sasquatch

The Issue

Growing up in Washington State, I've always felt a deep connection with the wild forests and verdant landscapes that define this beautiful region. One symbol that has always stood out to me and many others is the Sasquatch, also known as Bigfoot. This iconic creature isn't just a part of local folklore; it's a symbol intrinsically linked with our state's identity and deeply rooted in the rich history of the native tribes. It's time to elevate the Sasquatch to its rightful place as a symbol of Washington State by making it our official state animal.

The current official animal, the Olympic Marmot, is indeed a unique and interesting creature, but it doesn't hold the same mythical allure or wide recognition as the Sasquatch. The Sasquatch ignites imagination, brings attention to our state from all over the world, and speaks directly to the heart of our folklore and culture.

Adopting the Sasquatch as Washington's state animal would not only honor the cultural history passed down by Native American tribes but would also bring a renewed sense of pride and identity to residents. The Sasquatch has long been a subject in local lore and respected by the native cultures. With frequent sightings and stories passed down through generations, it embodies the mystique of Washington's deep forests and its place as a bastion of natural beauty and wonder.

Moreover, other regions have embraced mythical creatures as symbols, such as Scotland with the Unicorn, demonstrating that our world is enriched by myths and legends. There's no reason why Washington shouldn't follow suit, connecting our people young and old to a shared and playful heritage that promotes tourism and state pride.

Let's take the leap and make Sasquatch a permanent part of our state's history and future. I urge the citizens of Washington, the governor, and the state's legislative body to consider this change. Support our movement to officially recognize the Sasquatch as Washington's state animal and preserve its legendary status for generations to come.

Sign this petition to make Sasquatch Washington State's official animal and celebrate our unique cultural heritage and connection to this fascinating creature. Together, let's create a symbol for Washington that reflects our pride and imagination.
