If you have friends that think early screening is too invasive or costly for Manitoba, share this with them....
Think regular colonoscopy screening is uncomfortable or too expensive for taxpayers? Think early screening is unnecessary?
You know what my treatment plan is for stage 3 rectal cancer??
Since my diagnosis I've had...
3CT scans
An MRI
Meetings with an Oncology dietician and an oncology social worker
Weekly blood work
A visit with 3 oncology specialists
Weekly visits with a Oncology GP
11 daily radiation treatments (will have 14 more)
22 doses of chemo drugs (will have 28 more)
After chemo/radiation I will have
Another MRI
Another visit with my chemo oncology specialist
Another visit and exam with my GI surgeon
A rectal resection surgery
Ostomy bag with nurse assistance and potential homecare
Reversal surgery (hopefully)
More scans
More chemo
All paid for by Manitoba taxpayers. And it all could have been avoided
Still think early screening is too invasive or expensive?
