I find myself unable to express who I truly am while at Poinciana High School due to its restrictive dress code. This not only limits my ability to be seen as an individual but also affects my comfort and confidence. During harsh winters, I struggle to stay warm and during those hot sunny days, the required attire becomes almost unbearable.

The current dress code disallows comfortable and practical clothing options such as sweatpants, jeans, hoodies, and jackets. These clothing options not only provide comfort but also allow students to express their unique personalities. Additionally, allowing square neck shirts and shirts with school-appropriate graphics and logos would help students feel more connected to their school community while adhering to modesty standards.

It's essential for students to dress comfortably and appropriately, especially in a learning environment where focus should be on education and self-expression. A flexible dress code that understands and accommodates various weather conditions and individual expression would immensely benefit the student body. Students deserve the right to dress practically for their health and well-being, enhancing their ability to focus on their studies.

By revising the dress code to include these changes, the school can show that it values student individuality and comfort, thereby creating a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone. This change not only promotes student welfare but also respects their need for self-expression.
