Misogyny has no place in a modern Australia. To ensure a truly equal Australia we must start on a local level, and that means not centring men in our lives, including our speech. By having to describe your suburb in relation to a man (yuck) patriarchy is always on our minds.

For too long female residents of this great suburb have been forced to place Men at the beginning of their sentences, and addresses. No two women talking about Mentone has ever passed the Bechdel test; insanity!

Think of the impact that this is having on our children. Right now men receive plenty of representation in our suburb names, think FisherMANs bend, MENzies creek (double whammy because Menzies was also a man), MENtone East, MANor Lakes, YarraMAN, and the list goes on! Not a single suburb in Melbourne has woman, female, or any other derivative in it. This encourages our young women and men to view women as less inherently important then men - something that should have no place in our modern world.

We must implore Kingston local council to change the city name immediately. Once women achieve full equality we can then petition for the suburb to be renamed non-binaryton, however that may take some time so I'm not thinking about it yet.
