Change the law to require all dogs be on lead in public places
The Issue
My darling precious Tuppence. No longer part of my world. You left too soon and my heart is broken and will always be broken for you.
You were my little companion. My little guardian. You're awareness and sillyness will stay with me forever. From waking me in the morning with the softness of your paw patting my face to following me to bed and cuddling my arm with those loud purrs which I found comfort in, but i think you knew that.
To sitting quietly with me when I was fed up or unwell.
No other cat I've owned has been so impactful. You're empathic connection was wonderous, unforgettable and sometimes spooky.
You didn't deserve this ending my darling. Cruelly taken in the most disgusting way.
Tuppence, thank you for being with me through so much. And you took the move to Scotland in your stride, way better than I did. Always calm and collected.
A classy lady in every sense.
My beautiful girl, sleep well and please behave wherever you are.
Tuppence was put to sleep on Monday afternoon with me at her side, talking to her, holding her and kissing her
beautiful little head. Quietly whispering to her how beautiful and brave she has been. And how she did not deserve this ending.
My tears were non stop. And I didn't want to leave her. I still can't stop crying.
Her condition deteriorated suddenly over the weekend. She lost all control of her head and the left side of her body. Crying out when she tried to move. Unable to eat or drink.
Vets have concluded the dog attack damaged her brain. She literally couldn't function. It was awful to see.
All because some fcuking irresponsible dog owner had no control of their dog.
My heart is broken. And I'm still angry.
I will continue to fight for you my darling girl.
You rest easy now Tupps. Keep purring. Keep being spooky. Keep being you.

Update: I have had some comments that this petition may come across as anti dog. This is absolutely not the case. I have been brought up with dogs and love them dearly. However, it is essential that owners have control. This petition is pro safety for the dogs and all of the community. Let's make our communities safe for all of us and get dogs on leads in public spaces. Thank you so much for supporting this.
My beloved cat has been attacked three times in her own front garden by dogs who were allowed to roam without a lead. Her safety, and the safety of other pets and humans, is compromised by the lack of regulations requiring dogs to be on a lead in public places. This is an urgent matter that affects not only pet owners but every individual who utilizes public spaces and deserves the right to feel secure.
Off-lead dogs can be unpredictable, and while many are well-behaved, it only takes one incident to cause irreversible harm or trauma. In public parks, pavements, residential areas, and other community spaces, everyone should be protected against the threat posed by unrestrained animals.
There have been numerous reports of injuries and fatalities caused by loose dogs, impacting both people and pets. According to the RSPCA, over 8,000 people have reported being injured by a dog not on a lead in public places over the past year in the UK alone. These stats reflect the urgent necessity for stricter laws.
We propose that legislation be enacted requiring all dogs to be on a lead when in public areas. This change will ensure a safer environment where families, pet owners, and individuals can enjoy public areas without fear of encountering aggressive or overly excited dogs.
By signing this petition, you will help us call on lawmakers to make a vital change for the safety of our communities. Stand with us as we strive to protect both humans and animals from preventable harm. Your signature can light the way to safer streets and parks for everyone. Please sign and support this crucial initiative.
