For years, cybersecurity professionals have strugged to explain their work to friends and family members. Wikipedia's official image for the cybersecurity page, which depicts an aging PC tower with a padlock on it, further contributes to this confusion. This image is damaging to the profession. While hardware tampering is certainly a valid security concern, this image is damaging to the profession.
