#iamwilling is heading to Montgomery in 2017!!!

Good Morning, I wanted to share the latest update for #iamwilling with it's supporters. As of today, I have not heard back from Dr. Kathy Murphy but feel confident I will soon. I will follow up with her next week to see what has developed in regards to the legal aspect of a parent notification system. I am excited to share with everyone that State of Alabama, House of Representatives, representative (R-district 45) Mr. Dickey Drake and I have met recently regarding this petition. He heard about #iamwilling and has committed to working on legislation that he will introduce in the next legislative session (Feb. 2017). In part, it would require school systems to have a parent notification system in place in the case a child goes missing that attends the system. It is going to be known as 'Libby's Law'. He said, 'it only makes sense to start with the people children know to help aid in the recovery of the missing child. It will be similar to an Amber Alert but starts with the smaller scope of immediate contacts.' In the case of my daughter, Libby, this would have helped greatly and could have alleviated the need to go to social media in an attempt to locate her. We are raising first generation social media children. There are good and bad aspects of this. Developing systems to aid parents and administrators in a time of crisis is critical. I was very excited Representative Drake was willing to take on this cause. Hopefully, next February, I will be asking each one of you to call your representatives and senators and ask for their support of "Libby's Law." I want to thank Mrs. Sandra McGuire. She is the the director of the Chamber of Commerce for the City of Leeds. She was instrumental in getting information to Representative Drake and arranging a meeting for this cause. Head out to the City of Leeds and support their great city! By the way, they have a fabulous new drive-in movie theater!!!
