Change the Civil Service Job Application Process

The Issue

1. The Civil Service application process is WAY too lengthy and unnecessarily bureaucratic, stopping potentially valuable persons from ever reaching the positions. This results in jobs that could potentially change services for the general public (i.e., NHS, HMRC, and other similar organisations) being occupied by those who take no issue with endless rattling. That is not who we want in those positions.

2. More than half of us are unemployed and filling in a job application (for which you may not be selected) with 20+ pages of writing and needing to refer back to specifics from those pages in your application, is too much work.

3. It is in no way learning disability friendly. Individuals who struggle with Dyslexia and Attention Deficit Disorder are in no way able to reach through the process to the selection stage because it is simply too lengthy and unnecessarily difficult.

It is not a surprise that our young people are facing an unemployment crisis, a job application should NOT take a week to fill in and nobody is burning the midnight oil to apply for a job where more is demanded than what is reasonably expectable of a position that pays minimum wage.

p.s. Stop complaining about the labour shortage, we are here, we're just not going to go through your hoops and loops. We know there's hard work on the other side too. And no, life was not harder back in your day
