Good Morning!

Sorry I haven't posted an update the last two days.

We currently have 134 signatures on the petition.

I also hung 60 signs around the neighborhood this weekend. Due to the windy weather I decided to mail the flyers to each house in the neighborhood. I have a total of 215 letters that will be dropped off to the Post Office Today.

I also replied to Penny Miller this Morning.

I am getting very concerned this bus stops will not be changed. I understand there are hundreds of bus stops in the county but only Baltimore & Annapolis BLVD @ Riverdale RD had a vehicle drive through the stop during the time the children are required to be there. If the Baltimore & Annapolis BLVD bus stops are Very Safe a car would not have driven through the bus stop. The Very Safe Bus Stop location would be Pertch Rd @ Barbara Rd where there have been no accidents. Which I know personal since I moved here in 2001.  I don't understand what other requirement is needed to have this bus stop changed. If you can please let me know what I need to do to get this bus stop change I will do it.

Please merge the two bus stops on Baltimore Annapolis BLVD into one bus stop. Change the location to Pertch RD @ Barbara RD. I am suggesting this location as this is the current location for the Elementary School Bus Stop.

While reviewing the bus routes.  I found Bus #46 Route provides 4 safe bus stop locations. I am just ask for one safe bus stop further back in the neighborhood. I have lived at my address since 2001 and we have not had a bus stop incident or car accident at the Pertch Rd @ Barbara Rd. Do you know why our neighborhood was only assigned two stops?

I started a petition and currently have 134 Signatures on the petition agree with me that this bus stop need to be changed to a safe location. I am expected more signatures after this weekend.

Thanks,

Very Concerned Parents

An amazing friend gave me contact information for AACPS Board Members. Below is the response from Diane Howell. I also emailed the Chesapeake Bay Middle School Principle to see if he can escalate it even further. Hopefully, I will get some responses today.

On Behalf of the Board of Education:

Thank you for contacting the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County. The mission of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County is to provide leadership, vision, and support to Anne Arundel County Public Schools that ensures an equitable, world-class education and creates a lifelong learning by: • promoting community collaboration • developing responsive policies • holding ourselves accountable for the results.

The Superintendent of Schools is responsible for the administration of his office and carries out the laws of the State of Maryland, the bylaws and policies of the Maryland State Board of Education, as well as the policies of the Board of Education of Anne Arundel County and the Administrative Regulations that implement them.

The concerns detailed below fall under the purview of Anne Arundel County Public Schools, who handle the day to day operations of the school system, rather than the Board members. From your correspondence below, it appears that you have already received a response from the Transportation Office. I am forwarding your correspondence to the office of the Superintendent, he or another AACPS staff member will review and respond to your concerns.

Thank you,

Diane M. Howell
