I’m sick and tired of the way America is run. Many of the members that lead us are too old and out of touch with what America has become. They time and time again fail the people of this nation by starting wars that they profit from, while human beings die for their wealth. All over social media, those that don’t speak the truth tell us the “other side” of the political spectrum is our enemy, while ignoring real issues plaguing America-the treatment of veterans, the wealth gap, people starving in our streets, and so on. We don’t have to take this. This is only how it is because we refuse to stand up as a united people against a cold and uncaring government. 

My petition would change the minimum age of serving in any form of major government to 22, and would set a maximum age limit in any form of American Government to 60. The future is built by the young, and to assume that young people can’t control a nation is a lie. We speak for the future. We decide what our country will become. For as those that come after us will see, the world we create now is what they shall inherit. Why not give them a safe, loving, and happy world to grow, learn, and love? 

Now is the time to act. I try not to fear-monger, but our world is burning. We could head into WWIII at any time. A majority of Americans can’t survive with everything they need. Why are we content struggling when we have the power the change the course of history? It might seem like a big step, but we all must realize that change truly begins with us. By signing my petition, you will join the voices that are tired of being exploited, tricked, poor, hungry, and unhappy. We can change America for the better, and the first step is replacing those that make it hard for us. 

My goal for this petition is to allow younger members to hold power in this nation. I don’t claim to have all the answers, but the very idea of democracy is to hear from many voices to create one nation. The nation we have now does not accurately represent a majority of this nation. By having younger members in government, we can address issues that face us while considering a wider margin than our current government. By signing, you help join the voices that need to be heard, the voices that hurt, that cry, that struggle. Together, we can reshape history, and create a society that truly cares for its people.
