Pierce Transit representative Andrew Arnes emailed me today regarding the decision:

Dear Logan and the Mason Middle School Community,

Thank you so much for sharing your petition and bringing attention to the importance of accessible and reliable transportation. Your initiative and determination to advocate for a change that benefits your peers, and your community are truly commendable. It is clear that you care deeply about making a positive impact, and we at Pierce Transit sincerely appreciate your effort to reach out and engage with us.

After carefully reviewing your request and evaluating our resources and current service plans, I regret to inform you that we are currently unable to make adjustments or add additional trips on Route 11 to better align with the Mason Middle School bell schedule. This is primarily due to the limited number of buses available in our fleet. We understand how important this issue is to you and your fellow students, and this decision was not made lightly.

While we cannot make this specific change at the moment, please know that your input has been heard and valued. We are always looking for ways to improve our service and meet the needs of our community, and your petition has highlighted an important area for us to consider as we plan for the future. We continually look for opportunities to improve our service and will again be reviewing local school start and end times to look for areas where better connections can be made when we have the resources available to do so.

Your leadership in advocating for better transit options is inspiring, and I encourage you to continue sharing your ideas and concerns with us. Public input is essential to our mission, and voices like yours help shape a more responsive and inclusive transit system.

Thank you again for your advocacy and for demonstrating such a strong commitment to your school and community. While this may not be the outcome you were hoping for, please know that your efforts have made a difference by bringing this issue to our attention.
