Change.org, remove X/Twitter from your share list and add Bluesky

The Issue

Users of Change.org care about the planet and global communities. So why is the site promoting X/Twitter, fascist owned and operated with little to no truth checking and content moderation, as a site for links to petitions?

Elon Musk gutted content moderation and trust and safety teams when he took over Twitter in October 2022. Since then, content on the site has skewed heavily to the right and false information has proliferated. It is not a healthy environment.

Forbes article - 10/18/24 "After a two-year gap, X (formerly Twitter) finally released its latest transparency report for the first half of 2024 in September — a marked departure from its previous practice of more frequent disclosures. [...] The latest data from X is both perplexing and illuminating: while the number of reported accounts and tweets has surged, the platform’s moderation decisions have shifted. The most stark reveal: alarming reports of child exploitation content, yet a significant decline in actions taken against hateful content."

Bluesky is a social network with a conscience, no known fascist ties, and easy ways for people to control the content they see and to report content that goes against simple community guidelines. With 33 million users and growing every day, Bluesky people are moving the needle and making a difference in their communities. Isn't that what Change.org is all about?
