It's already hard enough to get our politicians to do the right thing. When they rock up to an event, they are treated like celebrities. We have to shower them with praise. We have to target their visit with sob stories and discuss the outlying cases with extreme relevance.
Why? Just do you job!
For 30 years, we have a government system, that has allowed tax avoidance by the super wealthy, and big corporations go on for too long. And lately we ask for a few concessions like a 25% tax on gas exports. Because we know the gas industry is taking the piss. Removal of Negative Gearing and Capital Gains Taxes because we know they are NOT taxes but benefit schemes for the rich.
And yet for the last 12 months, our so called main-stream media is more interested in the Liberal National One Party implosions, than something more real like oh I don't - calling Donald Trump a Facist?
It's telling when all the federal independents plus 1 Labor politician bandy together for two press conferences over 2 weeks, in front of the invited media - they were all there and all represented, yet only SBS has consistently reported the story! Like WTF!
Even ABC is too scared to use the 25% tag line!
We all know Trump is going to steal the next election - while we build housing for US military and fork out billions for the Biggest Dodgiest ScoMo Deal ever - AUKUS.
I just want to know where is that line in the sand where Australia decides to stand alone from the US and be the underdog the world needs.
Personally, I believe 1 word can make all the difference. Changing 'may' to 'must' for our National Anti- Corruption Commission to hold public hearings would definitely produce an environment where all the grubby, corrupt, con-artists scurry for the exits afraid of the justice coming their way.
Our politicians already know the law book excludes their misconduct from criminal prosecution. I've always said my local Soccer club is more financially accountable than any political party in Australia. So when ScoMo invents the RoboDebt scheme that was proven to be illegal, he and the public servants' instigators all escaped justice. Just like a Pedo President of USA, ScoMo walks free.
When we exclude our leadership from the very laws that govern us, we invite the corruption that ultimately breaks the system. No one should be above the law, yet our super wealth and politicians are.
If we don't stand up to the bullies, we will be ruled by them and face the consequences of our inaction.
