According to the Governor, "We freed ourselves here in the Virgin Islands,’” the Governor said. “It’s the same fireburn and spirit that is in us now. The same that drove General Buddhoe to move his people to a place where they could be emancipated.”

What is really being done to support our children's future? Are these events to commemorate July 3rd lasting to our infrastructure providing quality care for our children?

According to the Governor, “So our children can remember that there are those who came before them. That they look not only to Martin Luther King Jr. but also to Queen Matilda and to Ruby Rouss, to know that they have come from something beautiful,” Governor Bryan said.

How can they look to these people when the public libraries are not open? How will they learn about Queen Mary? Queen Matilda? What about the public schools being inadequate for learning. One Million dollars can go a long way to opening these Public Libraries in the territory, however, funds can be set aside to "commemorate"! True change is not in symbolism, true change is in actualization and hiring qualified individuals to do the job.

Make your voice heard and sign this petition to change the leadership of our public libraries in the territory before our children grow up and are walking around like "greenie" on St. John.
