It has been an eventful week!
Firstly, Scotland has become the first country in the UK to make Changing Places mandatory in their building regulations. You can read more about that here...
Secondly, the Welsh Assembly discussed Changing Places at the Petitions Committee this week, with the possibility of a consultation being mentioned, although further clarification is awaited.
Lastly, Rishi Sunak, in the Governments Budget this week, announced that Changing Places toilets will be mandatory in new public buildings in England by the end of the year, as well as a £30 million fund to provide Changing Places in existing buildings.
This is all incredible news, although I will be looking forward to seeing the fine detail. These last few years I have been working alongside other incredible campaigners, and this is what we have all been working towards.
But, I want to say Thank You to every single person who signed, shared and commented on my petition. Your voices were listened to. You brought change. All the comments you have made on here have been submitted to consultations, 18 months ago I met with Rishi Sunak and I got all your comments printed out and your voices were personally handed over to Rishi and his advisors as evidence as to why Changing Places needed to be made mandatory. You all helped.
The fight goes on though, I'll certainly be campaigning until Wales and Ireland follow suit, please watch out for further updates.
