Champion for a Livable Earth in NC: Recycling, Anti-Littering, and Halting Deforestation.

Champion for a Livable Earth in NC: Recycling, Anti-Littering, and Halting Deforestation.

The Issue

I write this appeal as one deeply enamored by the beauty and abundance that is Mother Nature. I've been walking around the Wake Forest and Raleigh area, and have noticed a lot of trash, and deforestation. Every tree, every patch of fertile soil is a testament to Earth’s nurturing streak, all promising resources, shelter, and support long before the instance of human history. I truly believe that we should treat this beautiful planet as our host and ourselves as humble guests.

However, the actions of us humans, in our thoughtless consumption and waste production, pose direct threats to the livability of our shared home. From the mountains of non-degradable waste choking our oceans to the loss of millions of hectares of our forest cover, attributable to reckless deforestation, these actions have dire impact on not just human life, but all forms of life that share this planet with us.

It is estimated that 8 million metric tons of plastic ends up in our oceans each year, while we lose 18.7 million acres of forests annually, equivalent to 27 soccer fields per minute (Source: Ocean Conservancy; World Wildlife Fund). Additionally, it has been documented that not only does recycling save energy, it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helping to tackle climate changes (Source: Environmental Protection Agency).

So, I put forth this plea to everyone: Make our earth in the Wake Forest and Raleigh area livable for all plants and animals again. Stand with me in implementing sustainable practices like recycling, anti-littering, and halting deforestation. Champion for a world where our actions reflect our respect and gratitude to the vast, life-giving expanse that is our planet Earth.

Please, sign this petition and add your voice to the growing demand for a brighter, healthier, more sustainable future. Together, we can make a difference.
