Petition updateSafe standing for Southampton fans at St. Mary's Stadium
KEEPING MY PROMISES TO UP THE PRESSURE

Southampton Independents
14 May 2018
Good Evening,
I said that I would keep up the pressure.
I have increased the pressure:
- on the Board of Southampton FC
- on other Southampton City Council councillors, by proposing the motion this Wednesday in support of safe standing. This will force them into making a decision whether they support it or not. They better had support it!
- on the Government, by signing and promoting the national petition. This will be debated at Parliament on 25th June. I intend to go along.
Look out on local media over the next few days. It was in the Echo again on Saturday (link attached below). TV and radio are interviewing me tomorrow at the Ted Bates Statue. I've invited the Board along.
Sadly, the Chair of the Board, Mr Kruger, has not yet responded to my request to hold the demonstration of rail seats at St. Mary's Stadium. I have asked him again today.
I have invited him again today, and other Board members and Southampton staff, to the demonstration this Sunday afternoon. Media have also been invited and the demonstration is booked.
Please help me keep up the pressure on the club by promoting this petition and encouraging others to keep up the pressure.
You can come along to the Full Council meeting this Wednesday and go into the public gallery. Come and say hello!
I will keep more updates on the Southampton Independents website.
Best wishes,
Councillor Andrew Pope
Southampton Independents Councillor for Redbridge Ward
