Stop funding cuts to Ceredigion's only domestic abuse service

Stop funding cuts to Ceredigion's only domestic abuse service

The Issue

We need your help - Ceredigion Council are having to make savings - they have paid a company nearly £250,000 to come up with saving ideas totaling £1.5 million!

One of the suggestions is to cut funding for West Wales Women's Aid. They have put out a public consultation - Please fill in question 8 and support us.

Not only have they got the facts wrong about the funding that we already receive - for which we have had an apology, they also suggest that we should shut one of the refuges, leaving the whole of Ceredigion with just 4 spaces for victims of domestic abuse that are fleeing.

Last year we were able to provide Ceredigion with its first and only space for male victims and their children fleeing domestic abuse - this is now under threat.

27% of refuge referrals we received last year had to be refused due to no space available,

If these cuts to our service go ahead some victims of domestic abuse from Ceredigion will have to move out of county and away from their families and support network, which in turn would be detrimental to their safety and may also put up a barrier to others disclosing they need help as they may feel there is no local service available to them.
