Dear Mayor de Blasio,
The Skate Circle near Sheep Meadow, is in major need of repair. It has not been resurfaced in over 26 years. Fortunately, in early 2020, Gail Brewer kindly secured $80,000 for the resurfacing of The Skate Circle. However, The Park Conservancy says there is a backlog of city contracts and therefore cannot give a date for when the resurfacing will be done.
The Skate Circle is truly a therapeutic experience for everyone, bringing all of NY and tourists together. A refreshed Skate Circle will symbolize the revival and renewal of the great city of New York. In line with the mayor’s planned concert in the park later this month. New York is back and Better than Ever!! Let's get this done before the concert!
Please ask the Conservancy to release the funds so the resurfacing gets done and let’s prioritize this work! We all need this more than ever!
