It has come to many students attention that fines are being given for students using their meal swipes to feed other students. The CMU Campus Dining Website states that "the food choice we make directly impact the energy and focus we need to reach our goals, everyday and throughout our lives. Discovering & choosing the right foods can propel you forward, help you succeed & keep you healthy", but is enforcing an institutional policy that fines students. 1 in 3 college students faces food insecurity, having limited or uncertain access to nutritionally adequate food. Rather than seeing students use their unused or unwanted meal swipes for good they are choosing PROFIT. 

Many other Universities across the country have programs established where students can donate their unwanted or unused meal swipes, to be used by a student that is in need of a meal. CMU NEEDS to adopt a program like this and revise the policy to STOP fining students. Various students have expressed their interest and desire to make this program happen, we are willing to help, which is why we are creating this petition to show CMU Campus Dining and those in charge that CMU Students are demanding better.
