Oppose Kwik Star’s quest to rezone 1900 1st Ave NE to build a fuel station

Oppose Kwik Star’s quest to rezone 1900 1st Ave NE to build a fuel station
The Issue
We, the undersigned petitioners, ask the CR Planning/Zoning commission to DENY approval of rezoning the parcels of land at 1900 1st Ave NE and 124 19th St NE to allow Kwik Trip, Inc. to erect a Kwik Star fueling station.
We are neighbors, homeowners and renters, residential office businesses, and historic preservationists who wish to maintain the beauty, charm, safety, and unique character of our neighborhood. We are opposed to the impact the presence of a fuel station would add or take away from our neighborhood.
WE OPPOSE:
- Open 24 hr 7 day per week
- Increased traffic (19th St. access) through adjoining residential neighborhood (includes A Ave NE which is considered an ally)
- 1st Ave and 19th St NE traffic congestion
- increased crime (increased foot traffic)
- Decreased property value
- Increased noise and light pollution (car wash) (pumps face A Ave) 24/7
- Loss of trees in an already hard hit area of tree loss
- Ill fit with other commercial properties in the neighborhood
- Ill fit between two historic districts; Brucemore, a National Trust Historic Site; and next to ManorCare nursing facility.
- Destruction of a mid-Century modern architectural building
