Gentile Presidente del Consiglio,

Le scriviamo in quanto esseri umani indignati e cittadini italiani preoccupati per quanto sta accadendo in questi giorni a Gaza.

Come gran parte del mondo, condanniamo la violenza perpetrata da Hamas il 7 Ottobre contro civili israeliani, che ci ha lasciato sorpresi quanto sconvolti. Non possiamo che restare altrettanto sconvolti e condannare allo stesso modo la violenza che colpisce e si intensifica su Gaza e sulla popolazione Palestinese ormai da settimane.

Un massacro non giustifica un massacro. La vita è sacra per tutto il genere umano al di là di religioni ed etnie.

E proprio nella compassione che ci fa sentire uniti come un solo popolo sul pianeta Terra, ci uniamo all'appello di Amnesty International Italia e l'Associazione delle organizzazioni italiane di cooperazione e solidarietà internazionale (AOl) per chiedere al governo e alle istituzioni italiane di porre al centro dell'azione politica il rispetto dei diritti umani e della vita delle popolazioni civili, e il rispetto del diritto internazionale senza distinzioni alcune.

Non possiamo restare in silenzio davanti a quanto sta accadendo nella striscia di Gaza. Non possiamo rimanere indifferenti davanti al disastro umanitario che sta creando e che creerà sulle future generazioni questa guerra, alle violazioni del diritto internazionale e ai crimini di guerra che lasciano senza acqua ed elettricità le popolazioni civili, senza cibo o medicinali, e ora senza internet né possibilità di comunicare mentre lo Stato di Israele continua a bombardare ospedali, zone residenziali e zone di evacuazione degli sfollati.

Non dimentichiamo la sofferenza del popolo Palestinese, le ingiustizie e le violazioni dei diritti umani che ha subito in anni di occupazione e condizioni di apartheid, né dimentichiamo tutte le risoluzioni ONU disattese da Israele negli ultimi 70 anni di occupazione illegale in cui migliaia di civili palestinesi sono stati uccisi o forzati a lasciare le proprie case, contro ogni forma di diritto umano sancito.

Chiediamo che le leggi internazionali vengano applicate per tutte le parti coinvolte. 

Chiediamo che anche il governo Italiano si appelli alla International Criminal Court per indagare sulla eventuale presenza di crimini di guerra su entrambi i fronti. 

Dal 7 Ottobre ad oggi 29 Ottobre sono stati uccisi più di 8000 civili Palestinesi, 24 giornalisti e 35 membri delle Nazioni Unite. 

Dal 7 Ottobre, sono stati segnalati più di 3.257 bambini uccisi, di cui almeno 3.195 a Gaza, 33 in Cisgiordania e 29 in Israele, secondo i Ministeri della Sanità di Gaza e Israele rispettivamente.

Secondo i dati di Save the Children il numero di bambini uccisi in sole tre settimane a Gaza è superiore al numero di bambini uccisi in conflitti armati a livello globale - in più di 20 Paesi - nel corso di un intero anno, negli ultimi tre anni. 

Chiediamo lo stop immediato dei bombardamenti e ci uniamo agli appelli provenienti da tutto il mondo per un cessate il fuoco insieme al rilascio degli ostaggi. Chiediamo infine che il popolo Palestinese possa finalmente vedere riconosciuti i propri diritti.

Presidente, dopo l’astensione dell’Italia dal voto dell’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite a favore della risoluzione sulla tregua a Gaza del 27 Ottobre scorso, le rammentiamo che le decisioni che prenderà in questo momento influenzeranno il giudizio della storia per sempre. 

Oltre l’immenso dolore che ci toglie il fiato, ci stringiamo intorno al popolo Palestinese e al popolo Israeliano augurando loro e tutta la comunità internazionale un futuro di pace e coesistenza nel rispetto dei diritti umani fondamentali.

Dear Prime Minister,

We are writing to you as concerned human beings and Italian citizens, alarmed by the events unfolding in Gaza in recent days.

Like much of the world, we condemn the violence perpetrated by Hamas on October 7th against Israeli civilians, which left us as surprised as it left us horrified. We cannot help but be equally shocked and condemn in the same manner the violence that has been escalating in Gaza and against the Palestinian population for weeks now.

One massacre does not justify another. Life is sacred for all of humanity, regardless of religion or ethnicity.

In the compassion that unites us as one people on planet Earth, we join the call of Amnesty International Italy and the Association of Italian Organizations for Cooperation and International Solidarity (AOI) to urge the Italian government and institutions to place the respect for human rights and the lives of civilian populations at the center of their political action, along with the respect for the international law without distinctions.

We cannot remain silent in the face of what is happening in the Gaza Strip. We cannot remain indifferent to the humanitarian disaster that this war is causing and will continue to cause on future generations, to the violations of international law, and to the war crimes that are depriving civilian populations of water, electricity, food, medicine, and now even internet and the ability to communicate, while the State of Israel continues to bomb hospitals, residential areas, and evacuation zones for displaced people.

Let us not forget the suffering of the Palestinian people, the injustices, and human rights violations they have endured in years of occupation and conditions of apartheid. Nor should we forget all the UN resolutions that have been disregarded by Israel over the past 70 years of illegal occupation, during which thousands of Palestinian civilians have been killed or forced to leave their homes, in violation of all recognized human rights.

We request that international laws be applied to all parties involved. We request that the Italian government also appeals to the International Criminal Court to investigate the potential presence of war crimes on both fronts. 

Since October 7th, at the date of 29th more than 8,000 Palestinian have been killed, 24 journalists, and 35 UN members.

Since October 7th, more than 3,257 children have been reported killed, with at least 3,195 in Gaza, 33 in the West Bank, and 29 in Israel, according to the Ministries of Health in Gaza and Israel, respectively. According to Save the Children, the number of children killed in just three weeks in Gaza is higher than the number of children killed in armed conflicts globally - in over 20 countries - over the course of an entire year in the last three years. We call for an immediate halt to the bombings and join the calls from around the world for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. 

Finally, we ask that the Palestinian people finally see their rights recognized.

President, after Italy's abstention from the vote of the United Nations General Assembly in favor of the resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza on October 27th, we remind you that the decisions you make at this moment will influence the judgment of history forever.

Beyond the immense, breath-taking pain it brings us, we stand with the Palestinian and Israeli people, wishing them and the entire international community a future of peace and coexistence in respect of fundamental human rights.
