Hello all,
First, thank you for signing the petition and special thanks to all of those who've provided inputs and suggested edits over the past few days. Two quick updates:
- Without any major push on social media, we've gotten nearly 500 signatures in 24 hours. Please do share this with your networks to build further momentum. What is encourage here is the broad range of representation amongst signatories here -- Israeli, Palestinian, American, British, French, conservative, liberal...
- At the top of the petition, there now are are some "Calls to Action" -- ones that were embedded in the narrative. Condemning atrocities -- war crimes and crimes against humanity -- isn't enough. We have to focus on the steps that would avoid a reversion back to an unstable, unjust status quo. Achieving a ceasefire without addressing the core issues once and for all would be an egregious, irresponsible mistake. Please feel free to suggest anything else here that you think is worth adding.
- Some have suggested we create smaller organized working groups here. If some of you would like to serve as conveners, please don't hesitate to reach out. I wish I could do more but have limited time and capacity.
Any and all comments and suggestions are appreciated.
