Cease Funding for Queen Elizabeth II Statue, Redirect Funds to NHS and Housing

The Issue

The proposed funding for the Queen Elizabeth II statue has struck a personal chord with me and many others. While we respect and value our shared heritage, the urgency of other matters cannot be overlooked. In the face of a rampant housing crisis and constrained resources for our National Health Service (NHS), wasting public funds on a statue seems morally unjust. In the UK, over 280,000 people are currently homeless (source: Shelter England), and the NHS has been underfunded by £20 billion in real terms compared to 2010 (source: Full Fact). At the same time, many households are struggling to keep warm or afford nutritious food. Single mothers and other vulnerable groups are then left even more at risk amidst these hardships. In light of these facts, we must redirect the funds intended for the Queen Elizabeth II statue and prioritize the welfare of our citizens. Let’s invest in homes, not stone; in health, not bronze. Redirect the funds to where they are needed most. Please, sign the petition to stop this unnecessary expenditure and invest in a better future for all.
