Hello, Avalon Theatre lovers. We have a correction to our last update for you this morning.
Since posting, we have learned that the City of Avalon and the Island Company require more time to finalize plans regarding the monthly community movie night. As such, the item will NOT be taken up at the city council meeting on Tuesday night, January 21, 2020. See the agenda for this meeting here. We still encourage anyone who is able to attend or watch as there are matters of great community concern being decided at this meeting. Please do not attend, however, if you were only planning on doing so to demonstrate support for the community movie night.
On Thursday we requested information and a status update from the city and we will share that with you as soon as we hear back. I want to clarify for those of you who have asked that at this time we have no reason to believe that the either party is stalling or at all resistant to this entirely reasonable and easily achievable concession for the community. We believe that all are working in good faith toward a plan that will allow all in the community of Avalon to continue to experience the theatre in some accessible and regular way.
Please do let the Avalon City Council representatives know that this is something you want by emailing them at the addresses below. Alternatively, you can email the city manager, Denise Radde, here and ask her to relay your message to all of the council members.
