Allow for family golf at the Carroll Muni

The Issue

Recently the Carroll Municipal Golf course changed their rules, preventing children under 6 from riding in the golf cart with their parents. This creates issues for parents who like to golf together, as well as ruling out an activity that has always been family friendly for anyone with children under 6.

This has never been a rule previously, as people of all ages were allowed on the golf course. Reaching out to many courses in the area, and across the state, there are almost no courses that restrict the age of riders on a cart, so long as they are with their parents. The golf course states this is for the 'safety of the children', but has not expanded upon that statement or the reasoning behind the new rule.

There are many benefits to getting children on the golf course at a young age; it promotes physical activity in a non-contact manner, allows for social interactions with family members in a way that can build competitive nature while allowing for proper emotional management of responses to challenges, teaches responsibility and discipline and enhances family quality time.

We want the golf course to rescind this rule and return to allowing people of all ages on the course, walking or in a cart, and to not discriminate against families with young children, preventing them from enjoying the great game of golf.
