We the undersigned are concerned about Petland Stores, specifically the Westfield/ Carmel Petland Store. Investigations conducted by the Humane Society of he United States show Petland lacks the facilities to quarantine sick animals, policies to ensure sick animals are treated, and has shipped sick animals to other stores where they can infect more animals.(1) We are troubled by reports Petland knowingly sells sick animals requiring immediate veterinary attention and drastically increases the cost of purchasing a new animal.  (2) These reports suggest Petland prioritizes profits before animal care, this a poor corporate member of the Hamilton County community. 

     We the undersigned would love to see that pets are no longer sold in stores, but if this can’t happen then a baseline minimum standard of care for pets sold in a store needs to happen. We the undersigned desire an enforcement mechanism for this legislation.
