Petition updateStop selling unsafe, recalled cars to consumers.Heartbreaking. Another fatality due to exploding Takata airbags
Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety
Mar 30, 2019

Armando Ortega, age 55, of Yuma, Arizona, was killed by an exploding Takata airbag in his Honda Civic.  He bought the car just 3 months ago. The car was recalled in 2014, but previous owners hadn't made the safety recall repairs.  When the airbag inflated, metal shrapnel from the faulty airbag struck Mr. Ortega, and he later died of his injuries.

CarMax keeps selling cars with this killer safety defect, without getting the safety recall defects repaired first.

Recently, CarMax sold a BMW to a father in California, for his 17-year-old son to drive, claiming that the airbag passed CarMax's standards. That BMW has a recalled Takata airbag in it.  How can it possibly pass any standard, when it is so obviously hazardous?

THANK YOU for helping spread the word and calling on CarMax to stop selling dangerous recalled cars. Together, we will prevent more heartbreaking tragedies.
