ADD YOUR NAME: Tell Carleton to speak up for Human Rights
The Issue
We are calling on the Carleton community to publicly and formally condemn Israel’s ongoing ethnic cleansing of Palestinians and commit to solidarity with it’s Palestinian students, faculty and staff who many of are affected directly by the heightened violence imposed by Israeli military forces on the people of Palestine.
It is disheartening for the school that is supposed to represent our voices to neglect leading the community in standing up for human rights. Many universities and university groups have already stepped up to condemn the crimes and unjust actions we are witnessing by the day. We would all like to see Carleton join its fellow universities, within Ottawa, Ontario, and across Canada, to take a firm stance against inequality and violation of international and Canadian laws. Equity, diversity, and inclusion statements mean nothing if the university remains silent. And as an institution that prides itself on championing these values, Carleton University has an obligation to support the Palestinian cause and its Palestinian students in their ongoing struggle. We urge the Carleton community to be on the right side of history and implore you to sign this petition to the Carleton University administration, including President and Vice-Chancellor Benoit-Antoine Bacon and the Carleton University Student Association, calling on them to stand in solidarity with Palestine and Carleton University’s Palestinian community.
Thank you for standing up for human rights and supporting Carleton's Palestinian community. To read our full letter, please visit:
