In the past, at Cardinal Newman High School, we have put on one fundraiser a year: the Jog-A-Thon. The proceeds from raising money usually go to new school utilities, such as football stadium lights, or a new equipment house for sports paraphernalia. This year, it has been decided to spend the money on upgrading the basketball court's snack shack. After four years at Newman, many of my colleagues in Senior year have agreed that what was necessary all along is an air conditioning system in the entirety of the school. About half our classrooms have air conditioning, but the math and science departments, as well as numerous other arts programs, are in classrooms with no air conditioning, meaning in the sweltering heat of summer, it becomes too hot for any sort of focus on the topic at hand. This petition is for Cardinal Newman students(I urge you to use your school email) and any other supportive friends to tell our Principal and President that we want air conditioning, not a snack shack.
