They are barely scratching the surface.... When it comes to the Airline Industry, safety is supposed to be a top priority. At least that is what they tell you, like a hit song playing on repeat on a top 40 station. And, you hear the exact same song from each Airline no matter which one is involved in the safety incident. Do you think that is by accident or by design? Can we say cover up?
In reality; however, what actually happens, is another story as we all know. Corporate greed and the all might dollar rule the industry like many others. Unfortunately, because of deregulation in the Airline Industry, it has allowed these safety issues to go unchecked, unregulated, and uncorrected for many decades. Let me give you a brief look at what some of us have been fighting to try and make flying safer for you!!
If you aren't aware of TOXIC FUME EVENTS like many people aren't, check out this link below for the article from the L. A. Times where it gives you a brief over view of what has plagued the Airline Industry for more than 50 years. Toxic Fume events are not specific to Boeing or Airbus Aircraft. They happen on all commercial aircraft using the Bleed Air System. (The Boeing 787 Dreamliner does not use the Bleed Air System.)
With the current issues that Boeing is having, the traveling public is now getting smarter when they book their airline tickets, and they are filtering their searches to exclude the Boeing 737 Max 9 Aircrafts according to an article by the Washington Post. See the link for the article below.

Now, imagine you are taking a flight from New York to Florida, or Los Angeles to Las Vegas where your airplane is big enough to carry about 150 passengers. I pick 150 passengers because you have to make sure the plane trip will be profitable with all costs included. Too few passengers, or too small an aircraft it doesn't make much sense profit wise, to fly that type of route. So, the type of plane you have to use for that type of flight is either an Airbus or Boeing medium body aircraft. All of which use the Bleed Air System.
How can you filter out of your search those type of aircraft? What does that leave you left over with as far as flying options for your trip? Is it now affordable for you to take that trip? So they got cha. What are you going to do? Drive? Take the Bus? Ride the train? Maybe.
So, how do we make a difference? How can we fix this issue because it is not safe or healthy to fly with Toxic Fumes and Manufacturer Defects on the aircraft. The answer, we have to regulate the Airline Industry again. WE HAVE TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE. We have to make it a law for them to install carbon monoxide detectors on all commercial aircraft. There are Inventors, Scientists, Doctors and the like all working together right now to come up with a device to be installed on all commercial aircraft. We need to remove any barriers that are impeding their progress on this very important issue.
This is a World Wide issue that crosses all party lines because it affects anyone who has ever flown, or anyone that you know who has flown. We need everyone to come together in support of this issue. All Safety Checks need to be completed and ALL issues need to be fixed. Band Aids will not work for these types of issues. Give Pilots and Flight Attendants the tools they need to respond quickly to Toxic Fume Events when they happen. Reporting means nothing without a device to measure the Toxic Fume Event when it happens.
