Thank you so much for your contribution and commitment to bring vital health care services for women back to Cape Cod Hospitals! Thanks to all your efforts, we are continuing the dialogue and gaining momentum to reestablish the services that should never have been taken from our community.

Special thanks to Lila Egan Callaghan for submitting this powerful opinion piece: https://www.capecodtimes.com/story/opinion/2020/11/05/midwifery-plan-comes-expense-patient-care/6171817002/

Next Steps:

Reach out to Politicians, Cape Cod Healthcare Trustees, Senior Leaders, and especially Donors! Please share the petition with anyone you know who might have some influence and have them contact Cape Cod Healthcare to voice their concerns and condemnation. Let me know if anyone with influence is willing to assist in our efforts and have them contact me directly.

I would urge everyone to write as many politicians as you can and contact Cape Cod Healthcare too: https://www.capecodhealth.org/contact-us/?f=21863&random=1614550465&checksum=BA165315D1BEECF1E54FB5264977D13F1657CFDF

Please continue to share the petition! It helps raise awareness and shows Cape Cod Healthcare how many people in our community are willing to publicly condemn their closures and cutbacks.

Share about the historical significance: I would encourage everyone to post this petition with a personal story you can share about your experience, or words of appreciation for Falmouth Hospital Maternity, appreciation for Midwives at Cape Cod Hospital, or general concerns about adequate access and choice during childbirth.

Please email or tag me in any posts about the original establishment of the Falmouth Hospital Birth Center, the efforts to increase quality of care over time, or efforts to increase access to midwives. It is very helpful to add historical relevance and personal stories to enhance impact.

Organizing and Mobilizing: I have a mailing list to keep everyone who is interested updated on progress. I will also post updates on the petition page.

We will be having a zoom conference call next Thursday at 10:00 AM to discuss updates & strategies.

To be added to the mailing list, zoom call or if you have any questions or concerns, please email me with details. I want to thank everyone who has reached out to offer help with these efforts and I encourage everyone who would like to offer additional support to email me at katherine@randatlantic.com.

Stay well!
