Removal i.e. killing of vaccinated and peaceful community dogs in Sarajevo - begging for cheap political points in the eve of elections

“We all have a common goal here - that is that abandoned and sick dogs do not roam on the streets of our town. Our primary goal is to providing and care for such dogs. Hygienic service is important chain in systemic solution of this problem that will, in accordance with the Law on protection and wellbeing of animals, with assessment of veterinary professionals, treat abandoned and sick dogs”, emphasized Prime MinisterElmedinKonakovic of the SDA Party. Treatment of dogs shall be humane and transparent, according to legally prescribed procedures, underlined ElmedinKonakovicand noted the importance of common activities of all participants in the process and partnership relation of non-governmental organizations that take care of the dogs. Representatives of Foundation of “Dogs Trust” expressed their pleasure regarding the readiness of Sarajevo Cantonal Government to being solving the problem of stray dogs in legal, humane and systemic manner.”

This statement was derogated by recent conclusion of Sarajevo Cantonal Government, led by SDA Prime Minister ElmedinKonakovic in the eve of next local elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina which reads the instruction published on 14 July on http://www.klix.ba/vijesti/bih/sarajevo-uskoro-akcija-uklanjanja-pasa-lutalica-kazne-za-osobe-koje-budu-ometale-proces/160714132

“Ministry of Utility and Infrastructure of Canton Sarajevo informed the Ministry of Interior of Canton Sarajevo that they would, according to conclusion of Cantonal Government of Sarajevo, as of 30 June 2016, take actions of removal of dogs without supervision of owners and stray dogs. This activity shall be conducted through Public Utility Company “Rad LTD” Sarajevo and Public Company “Veterinarian Station LTD”. Ministry of Interior committed to undertake legally prescribed measures against the persons who disrupt the work of mentioned services in the course of implementing the mentioned activities.”

What is the reason for removal of peaceful and vaccinated community dogs that are taken care by the domestic people in Sarajevo? The authorities already know that these dogs have people from their communities who are taking care of them and who will try to oppose their removal? Thus, the demonstration of force by involving the police??Cheap political trick for political points? Prime Minister, start dealing with real problems. Leave the dogs alone.

That is why you need to sign this petition, because removal does not mean anything else than killing as there is no space for new dogs in the shelter and dogs are already being taken away and they get euthanized as assessment and supervision are not made in transparent way.
