Late last night, we were reviewing the situation in respect of the RSGB and Armando Martins. Many people asked us isn't this their job? On the whole we feel well supported by the RSGB and kept in touch with Nick Henwood, the president on the topics arising since November - when the petition started. Having done a review of the current state of affairs it is easy to see that some planning and housing departments need to be brought into the real world, that is the one we live in and wish to thrive, experiment and remain healthy and active in. Through this campaign we have documented best practice and the issues. You can see clearly what the RSGB's strategy is, and while this campaign wasn't specifically mentioned the topics we have uncovered are raised in the annual report of the planning group, which you can read in RADCOM, the society journal this month. Now led by John Mattocks - who has a degree in town planning. It will be interesting to see what changes can be made to the process and guidelines in the coming year and we have volunteered our services in this respect. The first item on this campaigns list was to share with the RSGB the frequently asked questions which neighbours ask about amateur radio equipment. This is aimed at busting the myths used in a large percentage of complaints. John will be assisting Armando with his planning application - that's excellent news.
Best wishes, an thanks for all your support.
Armando Martins, Mac MacDonald and Stuart Dixon.
