The Issue

The mathematics exam for the 10th CBSE board, conducted on 17th February 2026, has left many students feeling distressed and anxious. It is their first major milestone in academic life, and sadly, the current examination setup is turning this crucial moment into a traumatic experience. Not all students aim to appear in competitive exams like IIT-JEE; they have varied ambitions and dreams. However, the lack of uniformity and the uncertainty introduced by differing question papers severely impacts their overall percentage, potentially hindering their future aspirations.

Our children's education system should be aimed at encouraging their ambitions and providing a fair and equitable assessment method. To ensure this, we must address the discrepancies in the current exam settings. Variability in question papers leads to a sense of injustice among students, as not every child gets the same opportunity to showcase their true potentials under equivalent conditions. This can result in long-lasting effects on their morale and confidence.

We propose a solution that prioritizes uniformity and fairness: the CBSE board should cancel the current mathematics exam and conduct a re-examination where the questions are the same for every student, albeit presented in a shuffled order. This way, all students will face equal challenges and be judged based on their merit, not on the luck of the draw in question paper difficulty.

Moreover, organizing a re-exam with the same questions shuffled ensures that while the content remains identical, the pattern of challenging students is varied yet fair. This guards against potential leakage issues and upholds the integrity and credibility of the board examinations. Such a step would not only ease the mental pressure on students but also restore their faith in the examination system.

Join us in urging the CBSE board to act promptly to provide a fair testing ground for every student. Sign this petition to cancel the current exam and advocate for a uniform and just re-examination process. Let us shield our children from undue stress and protect the sanctity of their academic pursuits.
