Just over one day and more than 10,000 climbers have spoken! What a beautiful and powerful demonstration by the international community. [UPDATE] Over 11,000. IFSC have reacted. Progress – but not a solution. https://www.change.org/p/cancel-the-ifsc-live-streaming-subscription-fees/u/19947572 The competition in Meiringen kicks off today and we're yet to hear from the IFSC. Their strategy to ignore the masses has backfired - climbers are only fighting with more force. I'm sorry to admit it, but it's obvious now that the International Federation is more motivated by the deals they can make than the climbers they are supposed to serve. This isn't just about live-streaming. Ask yourselves, will the IFSC act fairly on behalf of climbers in the future? Are they working to make climbing the best sport it can possibly be? After these few days, I highly doubt it. We're living in an amazing time, where climbing as a sport is at a tipping point. The decisions our federation makes today will define the sport for years to come. The right thing is for Marco Maria Scolaris, the President of IFSC, to apologise and retract. It's time for IFSC leadership to move forward in a way that truly represents the climbing community. To all the climbers competing today, we wish you luck. It must be a hard time to be an athlete, trying to focus on performing while so much drama unravels around you. Your mental strength is the reason so many of us admire you. Your collective dedication and optimism as professional athletes has inspired us all to stand up for what we believe in: Fairness, equality & integrity.
