The Canadian commercial seal hunt will continue in the Spring, even though the countries of the E.U., Russia, Taiwan, Mexico, the U.S. and others have banned seal product imports and condemned the seal hunt.

So, seal-fur industry proponents are attempting to step around these bans and have instead turned to China, where they have opened a store in the northern city of Shenyang,  in an attempt to develop a market for seal products there, where fur is highly popular.  

SOME FACTS: *Only 24% of Canadians support the seal hunt. *92% of the meat isn't used and is left on the ice. *90% are killed solely for their fur. *97% of the seals killed are less than 3 months old and the majority are less than one month old. *The seal hunt is inherently inhumane, and *an economically marginal activity. 

The seal hunt is cruel and archaic, and exists mostly to produce a luxury product that no one needs, and has no place or value in the 21st century. These animals do not wish to suffer and die anymore than our pet cats and dogs do...they deserve no less consideration. 

 PLEASE, SIGN and SHARE our PETITION  asking the Canadian gov't to stop supporting the industry with loans, subsidies, marketing ventures and other incentives, and to ban commercial seal hunting in Canada. Most of the world, including Canadians have spoken and will continue to demand an end to this cruel and unnecessary mass slaughter of innocent animals for fur.
