Were small businesses forced to pay their rent and bills before they were given financial support? No. The federal government provided the financial support for small businesses to pay their rent and bills. Then why should airlines have to give refunds before they receive support from the government (plus: they have already provided refunds so.....). 

Did care homes and similar institutions let all their employees go? No. The federal government provided the financial support so that care homes and other institutions could keep their employees plus hire additional ones. Then why should have airlines been forced to to lay-off hundreds and thousands of their employees and not receive equal support? 

“Essential” businesses/services were allowed to continue as normal, with enhanced safety measures and very few restrictions. Then why did Marc Garneau say that airlines were “essential”, but then slap on some of the toughest travel restrictions for airlines and passengers? 

Airlines brought Canadians home when borders were closing. Airlines transported PPE across the globe and our country. Canadian airlines have lost billions since March...and now they are expected to cough up more. How exactly is that fair Marc Garneau?
