Justice for Black Federal Public Service Workers
Justice for Black Federal Public Service Workers
We are calling on Justin Trudeau and the Government of Canada to end systemic discrimination and Black employee exclusion within the Federal Public Service.
In August 2019, in recognition of the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent, the Canadian government announced its commitment to taking positive measures to acknowledge the unique challenges Black Canadians face and to ensuring that all Black Canadians have a fair and equal chance at success. Still, today, Black Canadians are overwhelmingly underrepresented in the upper echelons of the Public Service.
We have taken steps to create an opportunity for our Canadian government to advance this initiative, and to redress the economic and psychological harm imposed on thousands of current and former Black employees of the Federal Public Service.
By signing this petition, you are calling on the Government of Canada to fulfill its promise and to address the discriminatory impact Black Federal Public Service Workers have faced for decades and continue to face at a systemic level.
