On Dec 18th I received the following reply from the Canada Health Act Division - Health Policy Branch:

Dear Ms./Mrs. Mavro,

Thank you for your email, dated December 8, 2025, and for taking the time to share your concerns about access to emergency health care services in Alberta. We apologize for the delay in responding.

The Government of Canada remains committed to upholding the Canada Health Act and preserving our publicly funded health care system, while working collaboratively with our provincial and territorial partners to ensure access to medically necessary care for Canadians. Health Canada will continue to follow developments in Alberta’s health care insurance plan closely and remains in regular contact with our Alberta counterparts.

Thank you, again, for writing, and for your engagement on these important matters.

Yours sincerely,

Canada Health Act Division (CHAD) / Division de la Loi Canadienne sur la santé (DLCS)  Health Policy Branch (HPB) / Direction générale de la politique sur la santé (DGPS)
