Petition updateJustice For Ryan - Ryan's LawOur Justice system is clearly failing victims and their families. It must be changed!
Justice For Ryan Passey

Yet again the justice system has failed another family in Reagan Asbury’s trial this week and instead of what should of clearly of been a murder charge, the jury decide he is not guilty of murder and instead charge him with Manslaughter, leaving the family heartbroken and distraught.

I spoke briefly with Reagan’s devastated sister via messenger last night and we really do need to do something to get the law changed as soon as possible, so that victim’s families can have the right to appeal these devastating and diabolical jury decisions. It is clear that the jury’s in these serious criminal cases are failing to fully understand and interpret the law and are not applying the correct verdicts.

We have also been speaking with many other families who have lost loved ones to knife crime and not had the rightful justice due to our failing criminal justice system: #JusticeForGeeSmith #JusticeForJordanTaylor #JusticeForJoshHanson #JusticeForTylerThompson

Knife Crime is devastating families, friends and communities throughout the whole of Britain. It’s a growing problem in all of our towns, cities and suburban areas.

The statistics are just horrendous....

Government Recorded crime Statistic

o  In the year ending March 2017, there were 34,700 offences involving a knife or sharp instrument in England and Wales. This is the highest number in the seven-year series (from year ending March 2011) the earliest point for which comparable data are available and Police-recorded offences between 2017/2018 involving knives or sharp instruments rose by another 16% to 40,147 in England and Wales, according to figures for the year to March published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

o  In year ending March 2018, there were 21,044 disposals given for possession of a knife or offensive weapon. Shockingly, Juveniles (between just the age 10-17 years old) were the offenders in 21% of these cases.

o  There were 4,434 (FCE) attendances recorded in English hospitals in 2016/17 due to assault by a sharp object (1 person every 2 hours). This was an increase of 7.6% compared to 2015/16 and 21.7% higher than in 2014/15.

o  In 2016/17 there were 215 homicides using a sharp instrument, including knives and broken bottles and The total number of homicides in 2017/2018– murder and manslaughter – rose by 12% from the previous year to 701

One of the most alarming facts from the Government statistics report state that in 2017, the proportion of proven offenders sentenced to custody stood at 30%. This clearly means 70% of proven offenders involving a knife or sharp instrument got away with NO Custodial sentence at all!!!!

And we are meant to believe our current justice system is working and there is no crisis with knife crime!!!!!

The report is freely available to read athttps://researchbriefings.parliament.uk/ResearchBriefing/Summary/SN04304#fullreport

We can decide to do nothing and just keep complaining about how bad knife crime is getting and the fact that the courts are letting criminals off lightly or we can stand together and decide enough is enough......I AM GOING TO DO SOMETHING TO TRY AND HELP!!!!!

IT’S UP TO YOU..... But, if you want to really make a difference and help families such as ours fight for what we all know is the right thing to do, THEN YOU NEED TO TAKE ACTION!!!
